Why I joined Juicebox as General Counsel - My vision for a founding team that pairs big ambition with real care, and building a legal function that helps recruiters earn trust with AI instead of slowing them down.

Why Juicebox

My legal career has taken me to both sides of the table, from large law firms to in-house teams. Most recently, I spent nearly seven years at VSCO, where my role eventually stretched well beyond what most people think of as Legal.

I led Legal, Trust & Safety, Customer Support, and Onboarding for a creative platform and community built around helping people turn their creativity into a profession and inspire others along the way.

That experience changed how I think about building companies.

When millions of people interact with a product, their confidence in it cannot belong to one team. It shows up in the decisions a company makes, the promises it keeps, the way it treats its customers, and what happens when something goes wrong. Earning that with both businesses and consumers taught me that trust is not a department. It’s what allows a company to grow without losing itself.

The same three things have pulled me toward every role I’ve taken: a mission worth believing in, a product that genuinely advances that mission, and people I wanted to work alongside.

Finding all three in one place is much harder than it sounds.

That’s what drew me to Juicebox.

In every conversation I had with David (our CEO), Ishan (our cofounder and CTO), our leadership team, our investor at Sequoia, and our outside counsel, the same quality came through. There’s enormous ambition here, and the ambition is paired with care. The team cares deeply about what Juicebox can become and just as much about how it gets there.

That combination is rare at any stage of a company. Finding it this early made the opportunity especially compelling.

Why I’m Excited About the Space

Some of the most consequential decisions I’ve made as a leader have been hiring decisions.

The right hire can change everything, and a missed one costs far more than an open role. I’ve been fortunate to hire amazing humans who make 1+1 equal 3: people who care deeply about making an impact, are willing to do the work required to get there, treat the people around them with respect, and challenge one another to become better. As an operator, I’ve learned that strategy sets the destination, but the people around you determine whether you ever get there.

But finding those people is becoming harder. AI has made it possible for candidates to apply to hundreds of jobs in an afternoon, while recruiting teams face more volume and more noise than ever before.

This isn’t a small inconvenience. Companies lose their shot at people who can help them accelerate their impact. This is the problem Juicebox exists to solve – not through another job board or filter, but with AI-powered search designed to capture the nuance of a role, and agents that help recruiters work at scale.

Every company deserves a real chance to find the people capable of carrying its mission forward, and helping make that possible felt like work worth doing.

My Vision for This Role at Juicebox

I’m joining Juicebox as its General Counsel and first internal legal hire.

I know what the words “General Counsel” can sometimes evoke. Contracts. Process. Guardrails. The person in the room explaining why something cannot be done. That’s never been how I view the role.

The best legal teams do not exist to slow companies down. They create the conditions that allow them to move quickly and confidently.

At Juicebox, that responsibility is especially meaningful.

Customers trust us with one of the most human decisions a company makes: who gets the opportunity to join their team. As AI becomes a larger part of that process, questions about data privacy, fairness, transparency, and responsible AI use cannot be treated as things to address later.

They’re part of the product. They’re also part of the relationship we have with every customer who chooses Juicebox for their hiring needs.

Much of my career has been spent working at that intersection. It’s why I took on Trust & Safety and got closer to the customer by owning Customer Experience. And it’s why this role feels like a natural continuation of the work I’ve cared most about.

Juicebox has already built an incredible foundation. My job now is to help strengthen it as the company grows, so that our commitments scale alongside the technology, the customer base, and the ambition of the team.

Looking Ahead

Closing the distance between candidates and recruiters sounds simple, but the implications are enormous. The right person can change a team. A great team can change a company. And the right company, with the right people behind it, can change far more than that.

I want Juicebox to be the kind of company that grows boldly, responsibly, and with the trust of the people it serves.

We’re just getting started. If you’re building an exceptional team, we’d love to work with you. And if you want to help shape Juicebox from the ground up, we’re hiring too!
